The wilderness has a way of drawing people back to Banff.
The Juniper gets you closer to it.

~ 3 minute read ~

The stillness, the winter snow-light, the fall larches and the promise of stepping outside into a world that feels untouched. At the Juniper, this connection to nature isn’t an add-on to your stay – it’s the heart of who we are.

Our hillside perch overlooking Banff places us inside a wildlife corridor, giving guests a front-row seat to the rhythms of the valley. Elk wander past the Juniper sign, ravens ride the thermals above the hotel, and every sunrise paints the mountains in soft pink and gold. These moments make the valley feel alive, and they’re part of the everyday experience here.

For us, getting closer to nature isn’t a slogan – it’s an invitation to rediscover something essential. And at the Juniper, we’re here to help you experience it.

From the Juniper’s doorstep, it’s easy to explore. Snowshoe trails, forest paths, viewpoints, and bikeable routes begin just steps away, offering accessible adventures for every pace. Even a slow wander from the cabins through the trees can create the kind of quiet reset guests often seek. For those wanting to venture further, Banff’s best-known activities – skiing, hiking, skating, biking, hot springs  are all within a short drive. Two of Canada’s greatest treasures, the spectacular Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, are just a right-turn onto the highway and a 35 minute drive.

Summer and winter in Banff can be intense; from summiting peaks in July to skiing off them in January. A stay at the Juniper offers the perfect balance: the energy of the mountains paired with the calm needed to truly enjoy them. Whether you’re heading through the Bow Valley, delving into the backcountry, exploring local trails or simply wanting to reconnect with the outdoors, we make it easy for nature to be part of every moment.

But nature isn’t only something to visit; it’s something to feel. That’s why we’ve shaped the experience at the Juniper around immersion. Our rooms frame the mountains as living artwork. Our outdoor spaces capture the hush of snowfall. Native plants edge the patio while sunlight slips through the dense forest surrounding the hotel.

A slow walk around the Juniper leads you through woodland scented with fresh pine, past the herb gardens planted by Chef for the Bistro, and out towards the patio and the lawn in front of the rooms. From there, a 180-degree panoramic view over Banff’s mountains and lakes is enough to stop you in your stride. At the Juniper, the wilderness that calls people back to Banff begins right outside your door.
