Now that we’re experiencing colder temperatures and the lakes have frozen over, it’s a great time to skate outdoors in Banff. Johnson Lake is a favourite spot to skate for many locals. This secluded spot in a natural-setting makes it an incredibly scenic place to skate.

At this time of year when Banff has not yet received widespread snowfall, you can sometimes see through the ice to the life below the surface. When Ken, our Director of Hospitality went skating recently, beautiful crystals of ice had formed on top of the lake making it a truly awe-inspiring time to skate.
